Haunted Castle UK Arundel Castle Norfolk

from http://www.ghost-sighting.co.uk/

Arundel Castle has been the home for the Dukes of Norfolk since the Norman Conquest. It was severely damaged by fire in the seventeenth century but has now been restored to its former glory and is the home to many ghosts and spirits.

There are said to be at least four ghosts at Arundel Castle, one of them being a young boy. This child is thought to have worked in the kitchens about 200 years ago, where it is believed, his master frequently beat him. Due to this, the boy died young and his ghost has been seen one many occasions since, cleaning pots and pans and scurrying around the kitchen.

The ghost of a young woman has also been seen. She is said to be dressed in white has been seen wandering round Hiorne’s Tower, particularly on moonlit nights. Is is believed that she committed suicide by throwing herself off the tower due to the loss of her lover.

Another spirit has also been spotted in the library and has become known as the ‘Blue Man’. On several occasions he has been seen searching through books and is thought to have been a resident at the castle during the reign of King Charles II.

The fourth and final ghost is that of a small white bird which flutters around the windows of the castle. It has been seen on many occasions, all of which have been followed by the sudden death of a resident of the castle. It is therefore believed to indicate the imminent death of someone connected to the castle.

Haunted Castle UK Chillingham Castle Northumberland

from www.ghost-sighting.co.uk/

Chillingham is famous for its moaning and whimpering Blue Boy. His bones and some scraps of blue clothing were discovered behind a wall where his cries have been heard, suggesting he may have been immured there. In the meantime, the rustle of a dress on the turret stairs heralds the passage of the restless spirit of Lady Mary Berkeley as she searches in vain for her husband (he ran off with her sister). Then of course there’s the white lady in the pantry, the voices in the chapel etc.

Ghost Walks Edinburgh

Fancy scaring yourself silly? Then take a trip down Mary King’s Close and see what it was like to live in Edinburgh in the 16th to the 19th Century. It’s pretty creepy down in the caverns (old streets that are now foundations for the Royal Exchange) as you learn about the Plague and grave digging.

Edinburgh vaults tour

The underground vaults of Edinburgh’s Old Town are another hotspot for ghostly activity. Constructed in the 18th century, they were abandoned shortly afterwards because of flooding, and became home to a legion of the city’s dodgiest characters. Before long, they had turned the vault area into a warren of crime and vice. After being closed up in 1830, they were re-opened in the 1990s and, since then, a large number of people have reported ghostly encounters inside. These range from cold sensations to stones being thrown mysteriously through the air, sounds being heard where no one is present; visual manifestations, of course; and one woman is even said to have been attacked by one particularly vicious ghost. This was Mr. Boots, who is believed to be a murderer from the olden days.

Various kinds of communication have taken place with the vault ghosts over the years, allowing many of them to be identified by name. Psychics and mediums have relayed messages from the spirits and EMF meters have been used to provide simple Yes-No answers in response to questions which were asked aloud. In addition to the infamous Mr. Boots, there is the little boy Jack, who is said to have been murdered by Mr. Boots, and a woman called Maggie Dickson who appears frequently to visitors.

Mercat Tours run all-night vigils in the vaults so you too can confront the ghosts of Edinburgh’s grim past if you dare. These are a cut above the average ghost walks and feature the presence of a psychic and the use of serious equipment such as EMF meters and video cameras to try and detect the presence of the spirits.

Ghost Sightings Huguenot Cemetery St Augustine Florida

from www.ghost-sighting.co.uk/

The Huguenot Cemetery is considered to be one of the hottest spots for real ghost stories and paranormal activity – both by the locals and the tourists that travel to St. Augustine. One of the most popular ghost stories surrounding this haunted graveyard is that of the Judge by the name of John B. Stickney. While on a trip related to business in the year of 1882, this prominent individual was affected by typhoid fever and immediately died. His body was laid to rest in this cemetery. In the year of 1903, however, his body was exhumed in an effort to be located where his children lived. It was then that several gold teeth were said to have been taken.

Today, this judge is believed to be the “man in the tree”. In addition to this, it is believed that he paces the grounds of the Huguenot Cemetery on a regular basis. It does appear that he is in search of something, and many believe that it may be his teeth, while others believe that perhaps he is just lost. There is another spirit that seems to linger in the cemetery with the ever-popular judge, and that is a man by the name of Erastus Nye. Throughout this website, you will learn more about the ever-popular Huguenot Cemetery and the spiritual encounters that have been said to occur there.

Ghost Sightings Mount Washington Hotel New Hampshire

from www.ghost-sighting.co.uk/

The Mount Washington hotel, located in the ski zone Breton Woods in New Hampshire is well-known for many years for it’s ghosts. They say, that the ghost of Caroline Stickney, the wife of the person that built this hotel still dwells in the tower suite. The ghost leaves inscriptions on the walls and periodically switches on and off the lights. Before this could be noticed only in summer but now, when the hotel is open during the whole year, the winter visitors also tell about the encounters with the “princess”. This title was assigned to Caroline when she was still alive and got married a French prince Aimon Fossine-Lussine again after the death of the husband. The hotel has rich history – here in the year 1944 the world currencies conference has been held, so you can see sometimes a group of diplomats crowded around the huge stone fireplace, discussing their economic problems

Ghost Sighting Devils Den Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

from www.ghost-sighting.co.uk/

In July of 1863, the small college town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania was the site of the biggest military clash of the Civil War, which to this day remains the bloodiest event to ever occur on American soil. Over 150,000 total soldiers converged on the scene, and when the battle was over as many as 50,000 were killed, wounded, or missing. The shadow of the battle still stands over the town today, and many claim the ghosts of dead soldiers haunt the battlefields. What’s unique about Gettysburg is the sheer amount and frequency of its ghost sightings. Some places in the town, like the home of Jenny Wade, a woman who was killed by a stray bullet from the battle, supposedly experience paranormal activity on a daily basis. Elsewhere, there have even been reports of lone visitors to the battlefield park stumbling across what they assume to be a battle reenactment, only to later learn that none took place that day.

Most Haunted Place: The Devil’s Den

Devil's_Den_Gettysburg_1909

The Devil’s Den is a rocky outcropping of boulders and shrubs that was the site of one of the clashes of the second day of the battle. The spot is famous for being the location of a small skirmish that took place when a Union artillery unit returned fire on a Confederate sharpshooter who was taking shots at them from behind the rocks. They later found a body, and photographer Alexander Gardner took a photo of it that has since become one of the most iconic images of the battle. But recent evidence suggests that the body in the photo was not the man responsible, and some even claim that Gardner dragged the corpse of another man to the spot in order to stage the picture. Supposedly, this man’s ghost now haunts the Devil’s Den, and to this day visitors to the park often have a great deal of trouble trying to take photos anywhere near the site. Pictures often come out blurry and unusable, and cameras have a strange way of suddenly dying whenever they are turned on in the area.

Ghost Sighting Pictures Hertfordshire

This amazing photo was taken by photographer and graphic designer Neil Sandbach in 2008. Neil was photographing some scenic shots at a farm Hertfordshire, England, as part of a project for wedding stationery; the couple planned to have their wedding ceremony held there.
Later, Neil was astonished when he examined the digital photo on his computer. There, as if peeking around a corner at him, is a ghostly, white, almost glowing figure of what looks like a child. Neil says he is quite sure there was no one there at the time.
There is further corroboration that this is a true ghost photo. Neil had shown the couple the anomalous photo, and before the wedding they asked the staff at the farm if they had ever had any spooky experiences there. They did not mention Neil’s photo. Indeed, they admitted that the figure of a young boy, dressed in white night clothes, had been seen on several occasions around the barn.
