Kirkstone Pass Inn lies between Ullswater and Windermere. The Inn is said to be haunted by a 17th century coachman. He hangs about the bar as if reluctant to continue on his journey.

Barrock Fell, south of Carlisle was occupied by the Romans in the forth century. They built a small fort here which is said to be haunted by a notorious highwayman – John Whitfield, who was gibetted in the 18th century. His Ghost can be heard crying out.
