Ghost Sightings

This young Indian girl manifested and stood by a guest in the hotel who was dying of fever – the nurse who saw the ghost said it had terrible injuries on the neck, so severe that she fainted. When the nurse regained consciousness, the strange little girl had gone and the patient was dead.

Two council workers watched a dark haired lady enter a lift, but when they also stepped inside a few seconds later, she had vanished.

Three schoolchildren reported seeing three strange purple fingers with long black nails, unnaturally long, emerging from the cathedral door. They ran.

This unclothed ghost hammered at the windows of the hotel for the period of a week. When finally spotted and approached, he floated away leaving no footprints in freshly laid snow.

The centre is said to be haunted by a maid who still loiters around the old top floor flat and along corridors, while a floating face haunts the Green Room. The Aberdeen Ghost Hunters group investigated the site and recorded electrical interference.

Poltergeist activity, such as a sherry bottle flying from a hall table and smashing on the floor, a tall standing lamp crashing to the floor in the study and a heavy metal pot cover which was hung on a hook over the stove clattering to the kitchen floor.

The figure of a moaning large man with a dirty white bandage over his head and covering his eyes, wearing dark green trousers and a shirt. The well built figure with a dark beard carried a short weapon, but longer than a knife. This ghost was witnessed by novelist Elizabeth Byrd who said that it was not just an apparition but seemed solid, like a real man was there. This ghost is thought to be the fourth Laird John Leith who was killed on Christmas Day in 1763
